Da Silva Pockets Career Victory 1,000

Da Silva captured back-to-back editions of the Queen's Plate Stakes in 2009-10.

Two-time Queen's Plates Stakes-winning jockey Eurico Rosa Da Silva secured the 1,000th victory of his North American riding career when he guided Bear Stables' Bear's Molly to a clear victory in a six-furlong claiming race June 16 at Woodbine.

A native of Sao Paulo, Brazil, 37-year-old Da Silva won the 2010 Queen's Plate with Big Red Mike after winning that Canadian classic for the first time a year earlier with Eye of the Leopard . Besides his victories in North America, Da Silva has won more than 500 races in Brazil and nearly 300 races in Macau.

Da Silva has been based at Woodbine since 2004, when he captured his first North American stakes race aboard Mona Rose in the Dance Smartly Handicap (Can-III). Other top horses for Da Silva include dual grade II winner Something Extra and grade II winners Callwood Dancer, Smokey Fire, and Court of the Realm. Da Silva guided Fatal Bullet to grade III wins at Keeneland Race Course and Turfway Park.

In 2010, Da Silva earned his first Woodbine riding title with 190 wins. He ranks second in purse earnings at the current Woodbine meeting with $1,972,451.
