Stallion Two Step Salsa Picks Up First Winner

Conquest Two Step sold for $420,000 at OBS spring sale of 2-year-olds in training.

Freshman sire Two Step Salsa  picked up his first winner June 21 when debuting Conquest Two Step outlasted an early duel with Highrate, opened a four-length lead in the stretch, and held sway to win by two lengths in a maiden special weight race at Churchill Downs (VIDEO).

Winner of the 2009 Godophin Mile Sponsored by Etisalad (UAE-II) and two grade III races in the U.S., Two Step Salsa stands for $5,000 at Get Away Farm in Lowell, Fla. All three of his starters have finished first or second in their initial career efforts.

Conquest Stables' Conquest Two Step completed the 5 1/2-furlong dash in 1:03.63 under jockey Shaun Bridgmohan. Trained by Mark Casse, Florida-bred Conquest Two Step is out of the multiple stakes-placed Pioneering mare Homesteader.

Conquest Two Step was the fourth-highest priced horse at this year's Ocala Breeders' Sale Co. spring sale of 2-year-olds in training when Conquest Stables landed him for $420,000. Bred in Florida by Manuel Andrade, the dark bay or brown colt was consigned by Eisaman Equine, agent.
