Nine Seek Election to Breeders' Cup Board

Results of member voting to be revealed following July 16 annual meeting.

The Breeders’ Cup announced today that there are nine candidates seeking election for five positions to its board of directors.

Candidates are Barbara Banke, Case Clay, Jerry Crawford, Roy Jackson, Michael T. Levy, Bill Oppenheim, J. David Richardson, M.D., Elliott Walden, and Barry Weisbord. Crawford, Jackson, and Weisbord are incumbent directors whose terms expire at the July 16 annual meeting of members.

Breeders’ Cup members, comprised of 48 individuals, will elect the directors through voting that concludes July 16 at the annual meeting. The election results will be announced following the meeting.

The three persons receiving the most votes will serve four-year terms; the person receiving the fourth-highest vote count will serve a three-year term, and the person receiving the fifth-highest vote count will serve a one-year term.

There are a total of 14 directors on the Breeders’ Cup board, of whom 13 are elected by the members. The directors not up for election this year are: Helen Alexander, Antony Beck, William S. Farish, Jr., Bret Jones, Tom Ludt (Chairman), Robert T. Manfuso, Clem Murphy, and Richard Santulli. Craig R. Fravel, the president and CEO, is an ex officio director with full voting rights.
