Sire Old Fashioned Has First Winner

Chicks Dig It posted a front-running victory in maiden race at Presque Isle July 14.

First crop sire Old Fashioned was represented by his first winner when Chicks Dig It posted a front-running victory at odds of 5-1 in a 5 1/2-length maiden race at Presque Isle Downs July 14.

Owned and trained by Ron Potts, the 2-year-old gelding was bred in Indiana by The Elkstone Group and was produced from the stakes-placed Northern Spur mare Titia.

A 7-year-old son of Unbridled's Song, Old Fashioned was undefeated during his juvenile campaign, which included a 15 1/2-length allowance score, followed by a 7 1/4-length romp in the Remsen Stakes (gr. II).
Old Fashioned won the Southwest Stakes (gr. II) in his 3-year-old debut and posted a respectable runner-up effort in the Arkansas Derby (gr. II). He retired from racing with earnings of $583,280.
Old Fashioned is out of the grade III-winning Meadowlake mare Collect Call. He stood the 2013 season for $8,000 at the Taylor family's Taylor Made Stallions near Nicholasville, Ky. as property of Rick Porter's Fox Hill Farm.
