Moving Desert First Winner for Desert Code

California stallion Desert Code celebrates his first winner with filly Moving Desert.

Moving Desert, a 2-year-old filly by Desert Code became her sire's first winner July 17, capturing her maiden by three lengths in a five-furlong sprint over the Polytrak at Del Mar (VIDEO).

Trainer Blake R. Heap sent out Harris Farms' California homebred with Joel Rosario up in her winning start. In the money in her two previous efforts at Betfair Hollywood Park, Moving Desert is the one of four winners from five runners for her dam, Cinema Paradisa. The filly improves her record to 1-1-1 from three starts and has banked $61,640.

Winner of the first running of the now grade I Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint in 2008, Desert Code was a multiple graded stakes winner with a record of 7-4-2 from 24 starts. The 9-year-old son of E Dubai retired with earnings equaling $1,088,939.

Desert Code stands in California at Harris Farms, near Coalinga, Calif. His fee for 2013 was $2,000.
