Sire Forefathers Gets First Win at Gulfstream

Milestone victory for Louisiana stallion comes in maiden claiming event July 20.

Louisiana stallion Forefathers was represented by his first winner July 20 when 2-year-old filly Home of America won the second race July 20 at Gulfstream Park (VIDEO).

Home of America won the $32,000 maiden claiming test at 4 1/2 furlongs by 3 3/4 lengths as the 4-5 favorite in a field of eight. The chestnut filly, who was making her third career start, is trained by Wesley Ward for owner Ciaran Dunne. Bred in Louisiana by J. Adcock, she is out of the Valid Appeal mare Appealing Andover.

Forefathers stands at Red River Farms for $2,000. A three-time winner during a 20-race career while earning $200,252, he was second in both the Swale Stakes (gr. II) and Jerome Handicap (gr. II) as a 3-year-old.
