Dennis D. Dammerman, member of The New York Racing Association board of trustees from 2006-2012, died this week, according to his family. He was 67.
Dammerman's career included 38 years with General Electric Co. from 1967-2005. His positions at General Electric included chief financial officer and vice chairman of the board, as well and executive officer.
Elected to NYRA's board of trustees in March 2006, Dammerman served on the Audit Committee (2006-2008), Pension Committee (2006-2008), Finance Committee (2006-2012), and Nominating and Corporate Governance Committee (2008).
"Dennis Dammerman served with great distinction as a strong and intelligent voice on the NYRA board of trustees," said Chris Kay, CEO and president of NYRA, in a release. "The business world has lost a highly-respected figure. NYRA and the Thoroughbred industry have lost a valued leader who loved horses with all his heart."
