First Starter a Winner for Unbridled Express

Express Model captures maiden at Indiana Downs July 24 as first starter for his sire.

Unbridled Express  was represented by his initial winner when his first starter, Express Model, posted an impressive maiden victory in her second start July 24 in the fourth race at Indiana Downs (VIDEO).

The 2-year-old filly, with jockey Leandro Goncalves up, pressed the pace before gaining momentum in the stretch and driving past rivals to capture the five-furlong dirt test by a 4 3/4-length margin.

Express Model is a homebred runner for Hillerich Racing and LTB and is trained by Bernie Flint. The gray or roan filly was bred in Indiana and is out of the Mutakddim mare Miss Carmelite

Unbridled Express was bred in Kentucky by Conway, Hillerich Racing, and Flint. Lightly raced, he was only once out of the money, achieving a record of 1-1-2 from five starts, which includes a third in the 2006 Hopeful Stakes (gr. I) at Saratoga Race Course.

A 9-year-old son of Unbridled's Song, Unbridled Express is out of Skye Castles, a daughter of multiple Canadian champion and 1992 U.S. champion grass horse Sky Classic.

Unbridled Express stands at Hidden Springs Farm near Palmyra, Ind. His fee for the 2013 breeding season was $1,000.
