Miss Monroe First Winner for Behindatthebar

Miss Monroe sprints to July 27 maiden win at Louisiana Downs for new sire.

Louisiana stallion Behindatthebar was represented by his first winner when Miss Monroe captured a five-furlong maiden special weight for juvenile fillies in her third start July 27 at Louisiana Downs.

According to the Equibase chart, Miss Monroe was caught up in some traffic near the back of the field of 10. The bay filly, with jockey Nicasio Gonzales in the irons, split foes into the stretch and willingly bested her rivals in the dirt dash by a one-length margin at the wire.

Miss Monroe races as a Louisiana homebred for Darlene and Jeff Wahman. She is out of the Commendable mare Really Roan and is trained by Ronnie Ward.

Behindatthebar is an 8-year-old son of Forest Wildcat out of Rhiana, by Runaway Groom, bred in Kentucky by Dr. Frank Justice and Meadow Oaks Farm. Raced at 3, he captured the Coolmore Lexington Stakes (gr. II) at Keeneland in his last start. In five races he was out of the money only once while winning three times.

Behindatthebar stands at Le Mesa Stallions, near Carencro, La. His stud fee for 2013 was $2,500.
