Catalog Writer Greg Swinford Dies

Twenty-seven year employee for The Jockey Club Information Systems was 59.

Greg Swinford, senior catalog writer at The Jockey Club in Lexington, died Aug. 3. The 27-year employee was 59.

"He was the nuts and bolts of the catalog department," said Steve Gillespie, general manager of operations for The Jockey Club Information Systems. "He had a work ethic that was second to none and his quality standards were second to none. He did the work of two people."

Swinford, a native of Harrison County, Ky., was instrumental in the development of the current cataloging system that is in place at TJC.

Swinford is survived by his wife, Marilyn Peak Swinford; his father, Charles Swinford; and three brothers and a sister.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Lexington Humane Society, Hospice of the Bluegrass, or the St. Joseph Hospital Foundation.
