Malibu Moon Son Heat Shimmer to Stud

Heat Shimmer a 4-year-old son of Malibu Moon, will stand in Indiana in 2014.

Heat Shimmer, a 4-year-old unraced son of Malibu Moon  has been acquired by Jeff and Jean Whitmer of Whitmer Thoroughbreds near Wabash, Ind.

The Kentucky-bred bay colt is out of the Kingmambo mare Miss Mambo, a stakes winner in the U.S. and Ireland and group I placed in the Gainsborough Poule d'Essai des Pouliches (Fr-I, French One Thousand Guineas) at Longchamp.

Both of Miss Mambo's starters are winners, including 5-year-old Bernstein mare Race to Urga, winner of the 2012 Wait a While Stakes at Gulfstream Park.

Heat Shimmer will stand at Joyce Baker's Indiana Stallion Station, near Anderson, Ind., for a fee of $2,500 (LFG).

Malibu Moon is the sire of 72 stakes winners and stands at Spendtrhift Farm near Lexington. Heat Shimmer will be the fourth son of Malibu Moon standing in North America as of 2013, along with Malibu Moonshine (New York), Randy's Moon (New Mexico), and Rule by Night  (Ontario).
