Soldat to Stud at Woodford Thoroughbreds

Multiple graded stakes winner broke his maiden in a grade III stakes.

Soldat , the multiple graded stakes-winning son of War Front  who defied tradition by breaking his maiden in a grade III stakes, will stand the 2014 season at John Sykes' Woodford Thoroughbreds near Ocala, Fla.

A stud fee will be announced at a later date.

Out of the Coronado's Quest mare Le Relais, Soldat got his first win in the With Anticipation Stakes (gr. III). He went on to finish second in the Pilgrim Stakes (gr. III) at Belmont Park and was length behind Pluck in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf (gr. IIT) at Churchill Downs.

As a 3-year-old, Soldat won the Fasig-Tipton Fountain of Youth Stakes (gr. II) at Gulfstream Park. The colt raced for Harvey Clarke, W. Craig Robertson III, Paul Braverman, and Namcook Stable. He was forced into retirement in February due to a suspensory injury.
He ended his racing career with four wins out of 12 starts and total earnings of $622,760.
