Tapit Colt Tops Seven Figures at Keeneland

The half brother to two graded stakes winners was consigned by VanMeter Sales.

A Tapit  colt became the second seven-figure transaction at the second session of the Keeneland September yearling sale when he was purchased for $1 million by Coolmore Stud.

Consigned by VanMeter Sales as Hip 325, the colt bred in Kentucky by JKG Thoroughbreds was produced from the graded stakes-place mare Pretty 'n Smart. The Tapit colt is a half brother to grade III stakes winners Heart Ashley and Ashley's Kitty.

Tom VanMeter said the colt impressed in the days leading up to the sale.

"He showed himself. He was always fresh and always walked," VanMeter said. "He was a really, really good horse. He never wore down, was always ready to go, and just walked himself into all these people's hearts, I think. David Shone at Greenwood Lodge did a terrific job getting him ready."
