Oklahoma stallion Podium had his first winner Sept. 11 when Party Cove scored in race 5 at Remington Park, a maiden special weight event (VIDEO).
The 2-year-old filly hustled outside rivals to the front and led the field of 12 juvenile filles from gate to wire. Under gentle urging from jockey Bryan McNeill, the pair drew away down the lane and hit the finish with a 1 1/2-length lead. Final time for the 5 1/2-furlong dirt dash was 1:05.11.
Bigheart Thoroughbreds bred the dark bay filly in Oklahoma out of the Baldski mare Dear Sweet. Roger Engel trains Party Cove, who races for Southern Okie Boys.
Podium was bred in Kentucky by Brilliant Stables. A 9-year-old unraced son of Pulpit, the chestnut horse was produced by Zing, a daughter of Storm Cat.
Owned by Scott Pierce and Cindy Bigheart, Podium stands at Ellen Caines' Caines Stallion Station, near Wynnewood, Okla. The stallion's fee for the 2013 breeding season was $1,000.
