A Medaglia d'Oro colt named Gold Shield became the 16th yearling to reach a seven-figure price when he sold toward the end of the fourth session of the Keeneland September yearling sale Sept. 12 in Lexington.
David Ingordo, agent, landed the Kentucky-bred colt consigned by Lane's End, agent for breeder Kinsman Farm. Gold Shield, who sold as Hip no. 846, is out of two-time grade I winner Dream Supreme and is a half brother to grade I winner and successful sire Majestic Warrior as well as stakes winners Evolutionist and Crystal Current.
Last year's sale saw a total of seven yearlings sell for $1 million or more.
