Mardi Gras Theme for BGFC Fundraiser

Called the "Racino Rendezvous," the event will include jockeys Albarado and Borel.

Jockeys Robby Albarado and Calvin Borel, both natives of Louisiana, will serve as honorary co-chairs of the Blue Grass Farms Charities' annual fundraiser Oct. 18 at Marriott Griffin Gate Resort and Spa in Lexington.

Called the "Racino Rendezvous," the event will have a Mardi Gras theme.

Special guests expected to commemorate the charity's 10th anniversary include founding board members Dr. Tom Riddle, Christina Jelm, and Tom Thornbury, who remain active supporters.

Blue Grass Farms Charities is a 501c3 non]profit that provides health and human services outreach to lower income Thoroughbred industry workers. Also at the fundraiser, BGFC will recognize Thoroughbred Charities of America, Fasig-Tipton, Darley, Kentucky Gov. and Mrs. Brereton Jones, and BGFC president Mary Lee-Butte for their 10-year contributions.

"Faithful is the word that comes to mind when I think of the folks who have helped us achieve this milestone," Lee-Butte said in a release. "These individuals, foundations and businesses have given us more than tools and resources to build a safety net for industry workers. They've given generously of their time and talent to shape our programs, guide our employees and volunteers, and generally assure that our programs are relevant and needed by our industry workers."

In addition to Keeneland, the event's presenting sponsor, support for Racino Rendezvous comes from: Dr. and Mrs. Tom Riddle, Fasig-Tipton, Darley, Sallee Horse Vans, Ashford Stud, Brereton and Elizabeth Jones Family Foundation, Brook Ledge Horse Transportation, Juddmonte, Wilhite Inc., Crossroads Farm & Sales, Lee-Butte Charities, H.E. Tex Sutton Forwarding, Chrysler on Nicholasville, Animal Health International, Equus Standardbred Station, Veloudis Farms, Hit the Board Stable, It's All About the Girls Stable, Churchill Downs, Breeders' Cup Ltd., The Blood-Horse, Daily Racing Form, and hospitality sponsors Marriott Griffin Gate (event host and hotel), Antony Beck/Gainesway (wine donor), Alltech's Town Branch (bourbon sponsor), and West Sixth Brewing (beer sponsor).

Proceeds from the gala will support the charity's outreach to Thoroughbred operations and the Backstretch Comprehensive Outreach, Resources, & Enrichment Program, a new partnership between Keeneland and Blue Grass Farms Charities to expand the charity's health and human services programs improving the quality of life for racetrack and training center workers.
