Kentucky Farm Managers to Honor Nuckols

Hurstland Farm owner and manager Alfred Nuckols will be honored by the Kentucky Thoroughbred Farm Managers Club as its 2013 "Farm Manager of the Year" when it holds its annual dinner dance Sept. 27.

The event, which costs $45 ($315 for an eight-seat table) begins at 6 p.m. EDT in the Round Barn at The Red Mile harness track in Lexington.

Nuckols, who received his law degree from the University of Kentucky, became Hurstland manager in 1986 and assumed ownership in 1995.

Among the best horses bred by Nuckols have been Certify, an undefeated grade I winner in England in 2012 and honored with a Cartier Award as best 2-year-old filly in Europe; grade I winner Cry and Catch Me; multiple grade III winner Spotsgone; grade III winner Phi Beta Doc; and Doc's Leader, a stakes winner who stood at stud at Hurstland.
