River Crossing First Winner for Banbury Cross

A winning debut for River Crossing Sept. 28 is first winner for sire Banbury Cross

Banbury Cross was represented by his first winner Sept. 28 as  River Crossing captured his debut Sept. 28 in the eighth race at Zia Park.

The juvenile colt, with Carlos Madeira up, stalked the leader for most of the six-furlong dirt sprint before engaging in a stretch duel. River Crossing then pulled away to score by 2 1/4-lengths proving best of the field of nine. Final time for the maiden special weight was 1:12.11.

River Crossing was bred in New Mexico by Richard Snyder and Connie Snyder who race him as well. Dallas Barton trains the dark bay colt who was produced from the River Flyer mare Return to Flying. 

A Kentucky homebred for Overbrook Farm, Banbury Cross finished out of the money only once in his eight starts. 

A 9-year-old son of Storm Cat, Banbury Cross is out of  Mythomania, by Nureyev.
