Grade I-winner Idiot Proof has been acquired by Victory Rose Thoroughbreds, near Vacaville, Calif., and will stand there as the property of a partnership, commencing in 2014. His fee has been set at $1,500, live foal.
Idiot Proof, who retired with a record of 5-5-2 from 17 starts and earnings of nearly $1.3 million, is one of the swiftest horses to enter stud in California having recorded a 113 Beyer Speed figure at 3 and topped the 100 mark two additional times.
Setting track and stakes records on both coasts, on both dirt and synthetic surfaces, Idiot Proof stopped the clock twice in 1:07 2/5 for six furlongs with his victories in the Ancient Title Stakes (gr. I) at Santa Anita Park and in the Jersey Shore Breeders' Cup Stakes (gr. III) at Monmouth Park.
An Eclipse Award finalist for his sprinting abilities, Idiot Proof finished second in both the TVG Breeders' Cup Sprint (gr. I) and the Gulf News Dubai Golden Shaheen Stakes (UAE-I) on the Dubai World Cup undercard.
From his first crop to race Idiot Proof has sired four winners from five 2013 starters; including debut maiden allowance winners Frisco Fog and On Autopilot.
Idiot Proof is by leading California sire Benchmark (sire of 2013 grade I winner Points Offthebench and six other 2013 stakes winners) out of the Bertrando mare, Perfectly Pretty.
