Distorted Humor Colt Brings $500,000 at F-T

Ontario-bred purchased by Mark Casse on behalf of Conquest Stables.

A striking Distorted Humor  colt consigned by Hill 'n' Dale Sales Agency, agent brought a $500,000 bid from trainer Mark Casse on behalf of Ernie Semersky and Dory Newell's Conquest Stables early on the second day of the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky fall yearling sale Oct. 22.

Bred in Ontario by Steven Di Iorio, the colt named Hot Humor was produced from Annasan, a Corporate Report mare who was named Canada's 2004 Broodmare of the Year and is the dam of Canadian champion A Bit O'Gold and stakes winner Arco's Gold.

"For a Distorted Humor, he had a lot of leg, length, and strength," Casse said. "He was the entire package. I am always in the market for a good Ontario-bred."

Casse, who is based in Canada during the summer and Florida in the winter, outbid some high-powered connections including John Moynihan and Nat Rea of Regis Stables, to acquire the colt. "I actually thought he might go for more," the trainer said of the final purchase price.
