Biamonte, 72, hails from Niagra Falls, Canada, and won his first race in 1985. Since then, he has captured stakes with 17 different horses on the Canadian circuit, including multiple black-type victor Feathers, who took the 2000 Bessarabian Handicap (Can-III) at Woodbine.
The trainer also saddled Citius to win the 2010 Frost King Stakes and the 2011 Bold Ruckus Stakes, both at Woodbine. In the 5-year-old son of Old Forrester's most recent effort, he came from off the pace to win by a head over King City at odds of 3-1. Citius completed the seven-furlong distance in 1:23.17.
Citius' victory in the claiming contest was his seventh in 28 starts. He has earned $436,761 for Biamonte, who co-owns the gelding with Danny Lococo. Biamonte bred Citius in Ontario from the Rizzi mare Ritta.
