Two-time Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint (gr. IT) winner Mizdirection brought a final bid $2.7 million to become the second-highest priced offering as the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky November sale went over the mid-point Nov. 4.
The 5-year-old mare was purchased by Mandore International on behalf of Qatar-based entity Al Shaqab Racing for $2.7 million
Consigned by Three Chimneys Sales, the daughter of Mizzen Mist was a late sale arrival after improving her record to 11-4-1 from 17 starts with earnings of $1,719,621 when she won her second consecutive Breeders' Cup Sprint coming off a five-month layoff.
She was trained by Mike Puype for a partnership group that includes Bill Strauss and sports media personality Jim Rome's Jungle Racing and was offered by Three Chimneys Sales as a broodmare prospect.
Three Chimneys' Case Clay said he was surprised by the final bid for Mizdirection, but noted that she had been popular since arriving at the Lexington sales grounds. Clay said the most impressive part of the mare's career was the manner in which she defeated males twice in the Breeders' Cup.
Mizdirection was bred in Kentucky by Joseph Perrotta and was purchased by Solis Bloodstock for $50,000 from the Casse Sales consignment at the 2010 Fasig-Tipton Midlantic May sale.
