Badge of Silver Moves to Canada

Son of Silver Deputy will stand at Colebrook Farms for $7,500 in Canadian funds.

In a joint venture between Colebrook Farms and the Badge of Silver Syndicate, Badge of Silver (Silver DeputySilveroo, by Silver Hawk) will stand the 2014 season at John Burness' Colebrook Farms near Uxbridge, Ontario, Canada. His fee will be $7,500 in Canadian funds.

Badge of Silver, who previously stood at Brereton Jones' Airdrie Stud near Versailles, Ky., has more than $3.25 million in progeny earnings for 2013. His current top runner, Silver Max , ended Horse of the Year Wise Dan's nine graded stakes-winning streak when capturing the Oct. 5 Shadwell Turf Mile (gr. I) at Keeneland

Among Badge of Silver's most successful Canada-based runners is Jose Sea View, winner of the Sept. 26 Fitz Dixon Jr. Memorial Juvenile Stakes at Presque Isle Downs. Jose Sea View is slated to run next in the Dec. 8 Display Stakes at Woodbine.

"We couldn't be happier to have Badge of Silver standing at Colebrook Farms starting in 2014," said Burness. "We are very excited to have Canada's leading sire and expect a strong response from mare owners."

Added Jones, who manages the Badge of Silver syndicate: "I intend to send 10 quality mares to Canada to breed to Badge of Silver for the upcoming season. This is a great opportunity for such a nice stallion, and I look forward to racing more of his offspring at Woodbine."
