Storm Cat Son Mr. Mabee to Poplar Creek

Stakes winner will stand the 2014 season for $1,500, down from $2,500 last year.

Mr. Mabee, a stakes-winning son of Storm Cat, will stand the 2014 season at Robin Murphy's Poplar Creek Horse Ranch near Bethel, Ohio. His fee will be $1,500.

The 12-year-old dark bay or brown stallion is out of the stakes-winning Flying Paster mare Young Flyer and is a half brother to grade I winners River Flyer and Victory Ride. He previously stood at Lake Shore Farms near Scottsburg, Ind., where his 2013 fee was $2,500.

Mr. Mabee scored his big victory in the 2005 Claiming Crown Emerald Stakes on the turf at Canterbury Park. Bred in Kentucky by Mr. and Mrs. John C. Mabee, he compiled a career record of 5-2-2 from 35 starts, for earnings of $173,037.
