Heitzmann Named Pauls Mill Stallion Manager

He has re-united with former employer Ben Walden to work at the Versailles, Ky. farm.

Mike Heitzmann, a lifelong horseman and former stallion handler at Vinery, has re-united with former employer Ben Walden, who has named him stallion manager at Pauls Mill near Versailles, Ky.

A native of Louisiana, Heitzmann comes from a prominent family of horsemen. His father was a trainer, his brother Eric currently trains horses, his brother, David is the racing secretary at Louisiana Downs and his brother, Roger, is secretary/treasurer of the Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association.

Heitzmann's first job after college was as a racing official, followed by a stint as a jockey's agent for Ronnie Franklin.

"Mike first worked for me at Vinery as a stallion groom," said Walden, owner of Pauls Mill. "He and I have a long history together and it is truly a pleasure having him back on my team. As stallion manager his merits speak for themselves having help launch the careers of leading sires More Than Ready  and Pioneerof the Nile ."

"I'm very excited to be working with Ben once again," said Heitzmann. "Both Fast Bullet and I Want Revenge  represent a great foundation for a stallion operation."
