Dan Silver has been named director of television and interactive platforms for the New York Racing Association, effective January 2014.
In his new position, Silver will be returning to the same organization where he served as director of communications and media relations from 2009-2012. He joined NYRA in 2008 as the marketing communications manager.
For the past year Silver was director of racing operations at Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course where he helped create the Penn Mile that set new wagering records for the track.
"Dan is an extremely talented and creative racing executive, and we are delighted to welcome him back," said David O'Rourke, vice president of corporate development for NYRA, in a release. "His deep knowledge and love of racing will serve him well as he helps shape our television and interactive offerings to our fans."
A Philadelphia native, Silver has master's degrees from the University of Arizona's Race Track Industry Program and Northwestern University's Medill School of Journalism, along with a bachelor's degree from Haverford College.
"NYRA has one of the most respected television signals and network of websites in the industry," said Silver. "I am very excited at the prospect of returning to the organization and helping to build on that success."
