Jerome Doro and Nancy Ury have joined the Oaklawn Park staff in key seasonal positions ahead of the 2014 live race meet.
Doro, known as "Jed," has been named assistant director of racing. Ury will serve as media coordinator and will have an important role in the track's simulcast program and nightly replay show, "Oaklawn Today."
Doro currently works at Delaware Park as assistant racing secretary to Pat Pope, who is also Oaklawn's racing secretary. Doro has helped put together Oaklawn's condition book in recent years and assisted Oaklawn occasionally during the race meet, but will be full-time for the first time this season.
Ury, a Hot Springs native, also brings a wealth of racing knowledge to Oaklawn. She has held various positions in racing offices at several top racetracks, including Arlington Park, and was stall superintendent at Hollywood Park for 10 years. Ury should be a familiar face to many racing fans because in addition to working at Hollywood Park, she also spent eight years with TVG as a host and handicapper. While at TVG, she helped create the "Lady Luck" show.
"The interest in Oaklawn racing has never been greater and its perfect timing that we were able to add such knowledgeable racing professionals to our staff," said David Longinotti, director of racing.
