Free Mammography Screening at Turfway Dec. 27

Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners sponsors event as part of charitable partnership.

Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners is sponsoring no-cost mobile mammography screening services to women Dec. 27 at Turfway Park as part of a charitable partnership with the regional affiliate of the Susan G. Komen Foundation.

The free screening is the first of three such events in the Tri-State area that will be sponsored by the racing partnership.

In an agreement with the local Komen affiliate, Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners pledged to support a day of no-cost  mammography screening for each filly it owned that won a graded stakes in 2013. Byrama, Charlie Em, and Silsita all won graded stakes for Eclipse this year.

"We are ecstatic with the performances put forth on the track this year by Byrama, Charlie Em, and Silsita," said Lee Midkiff, Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners chairman. "While their victories gave our partners a phenomenal thrill, they also enabled us to execute on our goal of bringing screening services to uninsured women in the Tri-State area, including those working in the Thoroughbred industry.

"We are delighted that the first screening day is able to take place at Turfway Park. Not only is the track located in close proximity to our headquarters, it is also the location of our company’s first graded stakes win, as well as Silsita’s win in the Bourbonette Oaks (gr. III) this year that helped contribute a day to this program."

The screening at Turfway, facilitated by St. Elizabeth Health Care, will be conducted between 1:30 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. Those interested in scheduling an appointment may call 859-655-7400.

In 2012, Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners donated about $30,000 in earnings by its filly, In Lingerie, to the Susan G. Komen Foundation Greater Cincinnati Affiliate.
