Stallion Monba Represented by First Winner

Initial victory for first-year Pennsylvania sire comes Dec. 20 at Penn National.

Grade I winner Monba was represented by his first winner as a stallion when Percy Jackson won the the third race at Penn National Race Course Dec. 20 (VIDEO).

Trained by Nick Caruso for Tuoozzo Racing, Percy Jackson won the one-mile maiden claiming event by a neck as the 3-5 favorite in a field of 10. The 2-year-old gelding out of the Tejano Run mare Athena of Troy was claimed for $10,000 by trainer John Locke for Tbd Owners LLC.

Monba, a son of Maria's Mon, won the 2008 Toyota Blue Grass Stakes (gr. I) at Keeneland by a neck over Cowboy Cal. He was retired the following year after compiling a record of three wins from 10 starts and earnings of $669,034.

Monba stands at Penn Ridge Farms in Pennsylvania for $4,000 in 2014.
