Chenery Film to Make California Premiere

Event will be held Jan. 11 at the Krikorian Theatre in Monrovia.

The film "Penny & Red: The Life of Secretariat's Owner" will have its California premiere Jan. 11 at the Krikorian Theatre in Monrovia.

The documentary about the life of Penny Chenery, who raced Secretariat and Riva Ridge, was released earlier this year. It was produced by Chenery's son, John Tweedy, and is narrated by actress Diane Lane.

The California event is being presented by the Secretariat Foundation and TROTT (Training Racehorses Off the Track). The festivities begin at 6:30 p.m. (PST) and the 60-minute film is expected to start playing at 7:30 p.m. A question and answer session with the filmmakers will follow the screening.

The optional premium admission tickets include a private VIP cocktail reception prior to the screening with John Tweedy, jockey Laffit Pincay, and other racing celebrities.

The general admission cost of $40 per person includes admission to the film and the question and answer session.

The premium admission ticket of $95 includes reserved seating and admission and access to the VIP reception,

The premium deluxe admission ticket of $150 includes reserved seating, access to the VIP reception, and a commemorative DVD of the film autographed by Chenery.

No tickets will be mailed. Tickets to the screening will only be available through will-call at the Krikorian Monrovia Cinema located at 410 South Myrtle Avenue, Monrovia, Calif., beginning at 5:30 p.m. on day of the event.
