Castleton Lyons Sets Open House Jan. 4-9

Lexington farm invites visitors to inspect stallions from noon to 3 p.m. each day.

Castleton Lyons is welcoming visitors without appointment to inspect the Lexington farm's stallions Jan. 4-9 from noon to 3 p.m. each day, including the newest addition to its roster, Justin Phillip .

An earner of nearly $1.3 million in his 32-race career, Justin Phillip captured the Alfred G. Vanderbilt Handicap (gr. I) last August at Saratoga Race Course and ran second in the Vosburgh Invitational (gr. I) seven weeks later at Belmont Park. Justin Phillip gives the appearance of an exceptional and imposing young stallion hailing from one of the most commercial and classy female families in the stud book.

Gio Ponti , the leading freshman sire at the 2013 Keeneland November sale, is also on view. The young sire has proven popular with breeders since his arrival at Castleton Lyons with three Eclipse Awards, seven grade I wins, and more than $6 million in prize money.

Hot soup and refreshments will be provided at the open house.
