Sire Silver Tree Represented by First Winner

Favored Windtalker takes maiden claiming heat on yielding Calder turf course Jan. 3.

Sire Silver Tree was represented by his first winner Jan. 3 when newly-turned 3-year-old Windtalker captured a $25,000 maiden claiming event on the turf at Calder Casino & Race Course (VIDEO).

The 8-5 favorite in a field of six sophomores, Windtalker won the one-mile tilt by a neck with Jeffrey Sanchez aboard for trainer William White and owner/breeder Vegso Racing Stable. The Florida-bred winner is out of the multiple graded stakes-placed Black Tie Affair mare Tuxedo Junction. The final time was 1:42.24 over a yielding course.

Peter Vegso campaigned the multiple graded stakes-winning Silver Tree, who raced into his 9-year-old season before being retired in 2009 with 14 victories from 47 starts and earnings of nearly $1.8 million.

In 2014, Silver Tree stands at Vegso Racing Stable in Ocala, Fla. for $2,500.
