Clever Cry Represented by First Winner

Clever Cry, a 7-year-old son of Street Cry, was represented by his first winner Dec. 27 when Artist Cry posted a victory in her second start at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots (VIDEO).

The 2-year-old filly rallied from the back of the pack, and then edged clear in the final sixteenth of a mile to prevail by two lengths over Tedious. Ridden by jockey James Graham, Artist Cry completed the one-mile turf maiden-claiming contest in 1:40.77.

Bred in Louisiana by Danny Brown and Donna Brown, Artist Cry is out of Art Form, by Avenue of Flags. The bay filly is trained by Wesley Hawley, who campaigns her in partnership with Danny Brown.

Clever Cry was bred in Louisiana by the Browns. He was produced from the stakes-winning Clever Trick mare Cherlindrea and is a half brother to grade I victor Nothing to Lose (by Sky Classic).

Clever Cry will stand the 2014 season for $750 at Browns Thoroughbred Farm near Bush, La.
