Hollywood Park will complete a major two-part renovation of its racing surfaces next week when the main track will be closed to training next Tuesday and Wednesday. The restoration involves increasing the organic content of the surface and reducing silt and clay compounds. The last time Hollywood Park's main track underwent a major renovation was in 1999 after the racetrack was purchased by Churchill Downs Incorporated."We have moved up the schedule for this renovation because of the extremely dry weather conditions of this past winter," said Hollywood Park president Rick Baedeker. "Following the 1999 renovation, the racing surface was superb, and we expect that horsemen will be just as pleased with this one."Hollywood Park also resodded its infield turf course shortly after the close of its Spring/Summer Meet on July 21.The renovation schedule means the track will be closed following Monday morning training hours and reopened in time for training on Thursday.Racing returns to Hollywood Park on Nov. 6 when the trackês 35-day Autumn Meet gets underway.
