Oaklawn, Penn National Cancel Saturday Cards

Freezing temperatures, snow bring racing to a halt Feb. 8.

Oaklawn Park has canceled its card for Saturday, Feb. 8, because of sub-freezing temperatures and several inches of snow that fell overnight.

The cancellation marks the third straight day the track has been forced to cancel because of winter weather. It also lost part of the Feb. 2 card.

Also canceling for Feb. 8 was Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course, which called off its evening program near Grantville, Pa.

Oaklawn, near Hot Springs, Ark., remains open Saturday for simulcast wagering and gaming.

Live racing at Oaklawn is scheduled to resume Feb. 9 with a 1:30 p.m. CST first post. The $100,000 King Cotton Stakes scheduled for Saturday will be rescheduled for Feb. 15.
