Monmouth Park Looking for Next Announcer

Track announcer position open with departure of Larry Collmus to Churchill.

Monmouth Park is accepting applications for a track announcer after the recent news that Larry Collmus has accepted the same position at Churchill Downs.

"On behalf of everyone at Monmouth Park, I'd like to sincerely thank Larry for 20 amazing years as the voice of our track," said Bob Kulina, president of Darby Development LLC, operators of Monmouth Park Racetrack. "During his time here, we've seen him ascend to the top of his profession and we wish him the absolute best of luck in the future. Our job now is to find the next rising star to be our voice for the next 20 years."

After calling his first race at Bowie Race Track in Maryland at the age of 18 and full-time stints at Birmingham Turf Club, Golden Gate Fields, and Suffolk Downs, Collmus became Monmouth's full-time track announcer in 1994. During his 20 years at the Jersey Shore, Collmus also became the voice of Gulfstream Park in South Florida in 2007, as well as the Triple Crown (2011) and Breeders' Cup (2013) for NBC.

"I leave Monmouth Park with nothing but the fondest of memories," Collmus said. "My 20 years at the Jersey Shore will be a time that I remember forever. Monmouth Park will always hold a special place in my heart and I want to thank all the people that I've worked with over the past 20 years.

"I would also like to thank the New Jersey racing fans whose enthusiasm, love and support of Thoroughbred racing make Monmouth Park the special place that it is. I look forward to becoming one of those fans in July and August as I plan to continue making New Jersey my summer home."
