Longtime horse owners and breeders Lisa and Jerry Campbell have launched Team Equest, a Florida-based syndicate initiative designed to attract new owners to racing.
The objective, say the Campbells in a press release issued March 7, is a new horse ownership venture that shows new clients how have a great experience in racing. A notable part of the progam is that the purchase price of horses is not marked up.
Team Equest will focus on the purchase, conditioning, and racing of horses in the allowance and stakes ranks at major tracks in Florida, as well as in Kentucky and on the East Coast. Florida-breds, acquired at sales, are to provide a large percentage of the syndicate's stable.
"I have been in the horse ownership and racing business for many years and we have had out share of success," said Lisa Campbell. "I am ready to step up my involvement to a higher level in the sales ring and at the track. I also want to share this experience with others of like interests and passion so that it can be fun, as well as economically rewarding."
Lisa Campbell will serve as chairman of the three-person Team Equest Board of Directors, along with longtime associates and industry executives Nelson Clemmens and Lonny Powell. Doug Bredar and Francis Vanlangendonck of Summerfield Sales have been elected by the board to manage day-to-day operations.
The ownership group has a website, www.TeamEquest.com.
