KY House Speaker: Gambling Amendment Dead

Greg Stumbo told the Courier-Journal expanded gambling amendment dead for 2014.

A Kentucky newspaper is reporting that the Kentucky House Speaker does not expect state lawmakers to move forward on any bills that would expand gambling in the state.

House Speaker Greg Stumbo told the Louisville Courier-Journal that a constitutional amendment to allow expanded gambling in the state is dead.

"The House ain't gonna start it...why do it if the Senate's not going to act and history tells us that they can't pass it?" Stumbo said to the Courier-Journal.

The paper reports that Senate leaders have said that any gambling bill must start in the House.
