Nicanor, a stakes-placed full brother to the ill-fated 2006 Kentucky Derby Presented by Yum! Brands (gr. I) winner Barbaro, produced his first foal Feb. 19 when a filly was born at Xanthus Farm near Gettysburg, Pa.
The newborn chestnut filly is out of the Sky Mesa mare Kansas Kitty, who was bred back to Nicanor for 2015.
Nicanor had a career record of 4-2-2 from 18 starts, including thirds in the 2010 Sussex Stakes at Delaware Park and Three Coins Up Stakes at Aqueduct Racetrack. He retired from racing with earnings of $147,697.
Nicanor, who raced as a Kentucky homebred for Roy and Gretchen Jackson, stands for $2,500 at Shamrock Farm near Woodbine, Md. He is out of the Carson City mare La Ville Rouge.
