Graded Winner Birdrun Retired to Poplar Creek

Son of Birdstone won the 2011 Brooklyn Handicap (gr. II) over Drosselmeyer.

Grade II winner Birdrun  has been retired from racing to stand at Robin Murphy's Poplar Creek Horse Farm near Bethel, Ohio. His fee is $2,000.

Birdrun, a son of Birdstone Run Like Martha, by Jolie's Halo, was bred in Kentucky by Arthur Appleton. A $60,000 purchase at the 2007 Keeneland September yearling sale, he was raced by Preston Stables and compiled a career record of 7-8-2 from 28 starts, for earnings of $622,816.

Among Birdrun's best efforts was a front-running score over Belmont Stakes (gr. I) winner Drosselmeyer in the 2011 Brooklyn Handicap (gr. II). He also won the 2010 Carl G. Rose Classic Handicap at Calder Race Course and the 2011 Greenwood Cup Stakes at Parx Racing. In 2009, the chestnut horse set a track record at Belmont Park when he covered a 1 1/16-mile allowance race in 1:39.38.

Birdrun will stand as property of Preston Stables and Poplar Creek.
