Interest High for Oklahoma City Summer Sale

Officials expecting increase in entries after 41% boost in average price last year.

Following record-breaking increases at the 2013 OKC Summer Sale, officials say they are preparing for an increase in entries for the upcoming sale set for Aug. 18 at the Oklahoma City Fairgrounds.

"With a 41% increase in average last year we are already getting entries. Consignors are planning earlier and that is always a good sign," sales manager Terri Carter said.

"It helps that racing is so strong in Oklahoma and with Fasig-Tipton moving their Texas August sale to October, we are getting more interest earlier this year," Carter added.

The first yearling sale for the the region always follows opening weekend at Remington Park, making it a whole weekend event as racing gets underway.

For the second year there will be a session for horses of racing age in addition to the session for select yearlings.

Entry forms, due June 10, are available on line at
