Strait of Mewsina Sires First Foal

The newborn filly is out of the Northern Afleet mare Check Up.

Grade III-winning Indiana-based stallion Strait of Mewsina sired his foal when a filly was born April 17.

Bred in Indiana by Wayne Houston, the newborn filly is out of the Northern Afleet  mare Check Up.

Strait of Mewsina, an Irish-bred son of Spartacus—Siraka, by Grand Lodge, is owned by Pixie Dust Racing. Winner of the 2008 Hawthorne Derby (gr. III), he retired from racing with a record of 5-3-5 from 35 starts, for earnings of $242,818.

Bred by Frank Rotondo, Strait of Mewsina stands for a private fee at Houston's Stoney Creek Horse Farm near Mooreland, Ind.
