Nominations Sought for F-T Racing Age Sale

Fasig-Tipton hopes to build on the success of last year's inaugural offering.

Fasig-Tipton is now accepting nominations for its Summer Selected Horses of Racing Age Sale, to be held July 14 in Lexington. The sale will immediately follow the July Selected Yearling auction.

Last year the inaugural offering of horses of racing age produced an average of $105,000, a high price of $1 million, and a buy-back rate of 15%. Twenty-one percent of the catalog sold for $100,000 or more, according to the sale company.

Entries can be accepted and added to the sale's interactive online catalog on Fasig-Tipton's website up to one week prior to July 14. The sale company's online catalog features current pedigrees and continuously updated past performances, race entries, video race replays, and analysis by the Daily Racing Form's Mike Watchmaker. The traditional printed catalog will be available only on the sales ground as of July 11.

"The first edition of our Summer Selected Horses of Racing Age Sale was a tremendous success, reflective of the strong market there currently is for race-ready horses," said Fasig-Tipton president Boyd Browning. "In addition, buyers and sellers alike embraced the sale's use of technology, which makes updated information on sale entries easily accessible through our website. We will continue to build on that in 2014."

Nominations for the sale are recommended by June 2. Horses may nominated online or by downloading the sale's nomination form.
