Hip No.'s 201-400 catalogued in the Ocala Breeders' Sales Co. June sale of 2-year-olds in training and horses of racing age sale breezed at the Ocala Training Center in Florida June 10 during the second of six sessions of the auction's under-tack preview.
The four-day June sale, featuring 1,178 juveniles and 34 horses of racing age, is set for June 17-20.
The fastest time for an eighth of a mile over the SafeTrack synthetic surface was turned in by Hip No. 228, a strapping Benny the Bull colt who zipped the distance in :09 4/5, eclipsing the previous day's fastest time of :10.
Consigned by Harris Training Center, agent, the bay Florida-bred colt is produced from the unraced Pleasant Colony mare Tantrum, a half sister to graded stakes-placed Saintly Action.
"You never think they are going to go in :09 4/5 and that's never the plan, but he's a really nice horse," said Robert Harris. "This is the first sale he's been in and he trains like a good horse. He's been forward all along. We're excited about him."
Two youngsters drilled the session's fastest quarter of a mile, stopping the clock in :21.
Wavertree Stables (Ciaran Dunne), agent consigns Hip No. 246, a filly by Majestic Warrior out of the unraced Strong Hope mare Text Queen, a half sister to graded stakes winner Mountain General and stakes winner Tulira Castle.
Consigned to last year's Keeneland September yearling sale by Highclere, the Kentucky-bred filly failed to meet her reserve on a final bid of $47,000.
Equaling the time was Hip No. 257, a Posse filly consigned by Hoppel's Horse and Cattle Co., agent. Out of stakes winner Three Pack, by Stacked Pack, the New York-bred filly is a half sister to stakes winner Classic Pack.
Patrick Hoppel acquired the filly for $20,000 from consignor Dapple Stud at last year's Fasig-Tipton Midlantic fall yearling sale.
Hip No. 295, named A Rosefor Isabelle, breezed the fastest three furlongs of the session, stopping the timer in :33 3/5. Consigned by New World Thoroughbreds, the Hard Spun filly is out of the Unbridled's Song mare Uzume, a half sister to multiple graded stakes winner Madeo.
Alfred Cazares bought the Kentucky-bred filly for $26,000 from Pope McLean at the 2013 Keeneland September sale.
Hip No. 342, a Majestic Warrior filly consigned by 30-30 Ranch, worked the fastest half-mile, traveling the distance in :46 2/5. Produced from the winning Forest Wildcat mare Wildcat Gold, the dark bay or brown filly hails from the female family of champion Silverbulletday, an earner of more than $3 million.
Juan Rodriguez paid $4,000 for the Kentucky-bred filly offered in the Gainesway consignment at the Keeneland September sale.
