Jockey Morales Posts 1,000th Career Victory

Rider's biggest win to date came in the 2005 Super Derby (gr. II) with The Daddy.

Jockey Pablo Morales secured the 1,000th victory of his career when he guided favorite For Scipion to a front-end tally in the fifth race July 9 at Presque Isle Downs (VIDEO).

The victory helped Morales maintain a tie atop the Presque Isle jockey leader board through July 9 with 37 wins, the same number as Ronald Dale Allen Jr. In the milestone win, Morales and Dennis Behrmann's For Scipion led at every call.

Morales, 25, was born in Lima, Peru, and attended the renowned riding school there. He picked up his first U.S. victory in 2005 at Gulfstream Park, the same year he guided The Daddy to a score in the Super Derby (gr. II) at Louisiana Downs.

Morales registered his 1,000th win in start 6,434 of his career and his mounts have earned $24,297,046 in purses. Some of his other top horses include stakes winners Cash's Girl, Fleet Valid, and Big Wednesday.
