Initial Win Noted for Louisiana Sire Orthodox

Lora Pitre, who stands stallion at Peach Lane Farms, bred Evangeline Downs winner.

Shedrow Cocktails became the first reported winner for Louisiana stallion Orthodox when the 2-year-old captured a maiden event by four lengths the evening of July 12 at Evangeline Downs.

Colby Hernandez was aboard Merrill Scherer's Shedrow Cocktails, who won gate-to-wire in the $20,000 claiming test while clocking a :59.32 for five furlongs over a muddy, sealed track. Lora Pitre and Jack Baumburg bred the chestnut gelding in Louisiana out of the Eddington  mare Edacious Reality.

In 2014, Orthodox stood for $1,000 at Pitre's Peach Lane Farms in Opelousas, LA. 

A Kentucky-bred son of Pulpit out of the graded stakes winner Dominique's Joy, by Strawberry Road, Orthodox won the 2009 American Turf Stakes (gr. IIIT) at Churchill Downs.
