Grade I Producer Garden Secrets Dies

She was dam of Acorn winner Forest Secrets; half sister to Silverbulletday.

Garden Secrets, dam of Acorn Stakes (gr. I) winner Forest Secrets and a half sister to Hall of Fame member Silverbulletday, was euthanized July 22 at the Patterson family's Glenary Farm near Frankfort, Ky. The daughter of Time for a ChangeRokeby Rose, by Tom Rolfe, was 22.

Bred and raced by the late Paul Mellon and conditioned by the late Hall of Fame trainer Mack Miller, Garden Secrets won once in 14 starts. She broke her maiden at Belmont in June 1995 under Jerry Bailey and was sold later that year to Glenary Farm for $51,000 at the Fasig-Tipton New York horses of racing age sale.

Her first foal, Forest Secrets (by Forest Wildcat), won the 2001 Acorn for Debby Oxley. Forest Secrets also won two other graded races and is the dam of grade II-placed Forest Command. Garden Secrets' second foal, Secret Wildcat (by Forest Wildcat), is the dam of Brazilian group III winner Big Wildcat. Garden Secrets also produced Rumor Has It (by Awesome Again ), winner of Kentucky Cup Turf (gr. IIIT).

Garden Secrets' last foal is a weanling colt by Forestry.

Silverbulletday (Silver DeputyRokeby Rose) was the champion 2-year-old filly of 1998 and champion 3-year-old filly of 1999 for Mike Pegram and trainer Bob Baffert. She is the second dam of Malibu Stakes (gr. I) winner Shakin It Up  and Sunland Derby (gr. III) winner Govenor Charlie.

Rokeby Rose won the Flower Bowl Handicap (gr. IIT) and is out of a half sister to 1969 Horse of the Year and champion 3-year-old Arts and Letters.
