Bullheaded Boy First Winner for Bullsbay

Saratoga debut victor is the third starter for Pennsylvania-based freshman sire.

Pennsylvania-based sire Bullsbay  picked up his first winner when Bullheaded Boy registered a half-length victory in his debut July 31 at Saratoga Race Course (WATCH VIDEO).

Sent off as the 3-to-5 favorite in the field of eight New York-bred juveniles, Gary Barber's Bullheaded Boy tracked in third early before seizing the lead in midstretch and powering his way to the wire. Trained by Todd Pletcher, Bullheaded Boy completed the five-furlong race in :58.67 on a sloppy (sealed) track.

Winner of the 2009 Whitney Handicap (gr. I) at Saratoga, Bullsbay stood the 2014 season for $3,000 at Northview Stallion Station in Peach Bottom, Pa. The 10-year-old son of Tiznow  has 23 2-year-olds in his first crop and 14 current yearlings.

Bred in New York by Zeke Kobak and Danny Bramer, Bullheaded Boy is out of the Pulpit mare Sister Dyer. A $115,000 purchase by Magnolia Mountain Bloodstock at this year's Ocala Breeders' Sales Co.'s June sale of 2-year-olds in training, Bullheaded Boy is the third starter for Bullsbay.
