The National Thoroughbred Racing Association has scheduled three legislative briefings in August and September.
The first one will be held Aug. 7 at 6 p.m. EDT in the Man o'War Restaurant at the Fasig-Tipton sale pavilion in Saratoga Springs, N.Y. The briefing is open to industry stakeholders and other interested parties and will be hosted by NTRA president and chief executive officer Alex Waldrop and NTRA lobbyist Greg Means of the Alpine Group.
The one-hour event will cover the latest news from Washington, D.C., on federal legislation that could impact horse racing. Topics will include prospects and perils for expired investment incentives and other tax measures that affect the industry, especially horse owners, breeders, and horseplayers. Means also will offer an insider's view of the upcoming elections. A question-and-answer session will follow.
The NTRA said reservations are encouraged and can be made by contacting Barbara Fossum at email@example.com or 610-322-7125610-322-7125.
A subsequent legislative briefing is set for Sept. 12 on the dark day of the Keeneland September yearling sale in Lexington at 10 a.m. at Keene Place on the Keeneland grounds. A similar briefing is scheduled for Aug. 21 at Del Mar immediately following the races.
