Tattersalls has announced it has taken a majority stake in French sales company Osarus, whose flagship September yearling sale will take place at La Teste de Buch Racecourse Sept. 11-12.
In a release, Tattersalls noted that Osarus has rapidly established itself as a significant force in the French bloodstock industry, having been founded only seven years ago.
"We view the move as an investment in a vibrant, ambitious, young company which has made a significant impact in an important sector of the European bloodstock market in a very short space of time, said Tattersalls chairman Edmond Mahony. "We have been working closely with the Osarus team for more than 18 months and taking a majority stake in the firm reflects how impressed we have been by their collective vision.
"The move also reflects our confidence in the French racing and breeding industry which is respected and admired throughout the world," Mahony continued. "The heartland of Osarus is the South West region of France where so many of the leading French breeders and trainers are based, and it is a region which continues to thrive and prosper."
